Its that time of the year for Boys State and we are looking for new sponsors
Please ask any group you may belong to if they are intrested in sponsoring a Boys State Citizen. If they cannot afford to sponsor a canidate they can sponsor a partial one and monies will be combined to send a boy.
The 2007 session of the American Legion Boy's State will be held on the campus of the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, from June 16th to June 23rd This program is in it's 68th session and continues to teach our youth to understand and appreciate the basic principles involved in the successful management of a democratic society, so we can keep America strong and ensure freedom for future generations. Post 95 plans on sending 9 area "future leaders" this year. The cost of this great program is $350.00 per participant.
After holding the program fee unchanged for six years, it has become necessary to increase the fee to $350 per citizen. This increase is mainly due to the rise in housing, food, and program related expenses. While cost cutting measures were implemented, they were not enough to continue providing the excellent leadership program offered for the past 66 years without a program fee increase. In spite of this increase we are confident that this exciting 8-day leadership program is a tremendous value compared to similar programs offered not just in Missouri, but nationwide.
Your sponsorship of these programs would be greatly appreciated by Post 95 and mostly the potential participants. If you can't sponsor a full participant, perhaps you could become a half sponsorship ($150.00). Your "investment" in America's future can be made by a check payable to the American Legion Boys State of Missouri, Inc.. Please mail your tax deductible contribution to American Legion Post 95, P.O. BOX 417, Liberty, MO 64068. If you have any questions, or know of a Liberty High School junior that may be interested in participating, feel free to contact me at 833-7285. All money must be in by April 1st. I will have a list of boys to pick from in the near future.
